Dear Prospective Member,
Thank you very much for taking the time to look at our website. We are the Exeter University Conservative Association, known colloquially as EUCA. We are a broad-church, ‘small-c’ conservative society, the third largest of its kind in the UK. With regular socials, speaker events, campaigning trips, and opportunities to meet MPs and political figures, we really do offer you a lot for your membership.
No two EUCA members are the same, and I’m sure that if you sit on the centre or the right of the political compass, or just want to discuss politics over a pint, you’ll find a home with EUCA. Indeed, you might literally find a home with EUCA. Many of our members have fostered some great and long-lasting friendships from meeting at our socials – I am currently living with EUCA members who I met at Fresher’s Week!
EUCA is very much a social society. We offer our members weekly socials (sometimes even more frequent!) ranging from pub crawls, meals out, day trips, and clay pigeon shooting, as well as fortnightly black tie events and bi-annual formal dinners. Membership is required to attend some of these events, so please do buy yours so that you can be added to our mailing list and Facebook group to avoid missing out!
While we are not, and have no intention of being, directly affiliated with the Conservative and Unionist Party, we do provide opportunities to campaign for the party, should you wish. We often have EUCA members who stand as candidates in local elections, and the society will help you wherever we can in your campaign. We also regularly have Conservative MPs and speakers visit the society and meet our members, who sometimes even join us for a meal or for a drink at the pub afterwards. Buying membership means that you are eligible for either discounted or exclusive access to these events, so it comes highly recommended!
I really could not encourage joining enough. EUCA has been at the heart of my university experience and has enabled me to make some great friends, attend many brilliant events, and meet fascinating speakers and political figures.
Please do get in touch if you have any questions, but other than that, I hope to be able to warmly welcome you to one of our events soon!
